Dr. David G. Gutiérrez

David G. Gutiérrez is Professor of History and Senior Associate Dean of Arts and Humanities Emeritus at the University of California, San Diego, where he has taught since 1990. He was educated at the University of California, Santa Barbara and Stanford University and has also taught at Stanford, the University of Utah, and the California Institute of Technology. His publications include Walls and Mirrors: Mexican Americans, Mexican Immigrants, and the Politics of Ethnicity (Berkeley: University of California Press, 1995); as editor, Between Two Worlds: Mexican Immigrants in the United States (Wilmington, DE: Scholarly Resources Publishers, 1996); The Columbia History of Latinos in the United States since 1960 (New York: Columbia University Press, 2004); as coeditor, Nation and Migration: Past and Future, (Baltimore: Johns Hopkins University Press, 2009); and a broad range of articles and book chapters. He has been featured in several telecourses, has consulted on numerous film and television projects, and has served on many media grant evaluation panels for the National Endowment for the Humanities and other nonprofit agencies.
